Getting started takes about 15 minutes if you have your bank statements ready. Questions: hello@ledgerpost.in or WhatsApp +91 98304 16044.
| 1. Sign in | With Google, or with your e-mail: a 6-digit code arrives in a minute. No password, no card. |
|---|---|
| 2. Connect your Tally | Press Download the add-on on the dashboard: one small file named LedgerPost-LP-XXXX-XXXX.tcp. Save it on the PC where Tally runs (any folder; the Desktop is fine).
In Tally: F1 (Help) › TDLs & Add-Ons › F4 (Manage Local TDLs) › Load TDLs on startup: Yes › type the file's full path on the first line › Ctrl+A to save.
Then open your company. Within 15 seconds the dashboard shows "Tally connected" with your serial number and the companies open in Tally. |
| 3. Switch on a company, pick its bank ledger | Press Switch on next to the company. Your 7-day trial starts now. Then pick the Tally ledger of the bank account you will upload statements for (the list comes from your Tally's Bank Accounts group). |
| 4. Match bank with Tally | Upload the last 6 to 12 months of that account's statements, one file at a time (PDF, Excel or CSV from net banking). LedgerPost matches every line to the entries already in your Tally and learns which payer belongs to which ledger. This is what makes the first new statement arrive mostly filled in. |
| 5. The first statement | Upload today's statement. Every line comes up with its ledger: learnt from your books, suggested, or waiting for you to pick. Check, press Approve, and the day's report appears. Press Post to Tally and each line shows its voucher number once Tally has it. |
Upload › check the few lines marked "check" or "pick a ledger" › Approve › share the report from your own WhatsApp or e-mail › Post to Tally. A party not yet in Tally can be created from the line itself, under the Tally group you choose; the ledger is created in Tally just before its voucher.
What gets installed on my PC?
Nothing. The add-on is one text file that Tally itself loads, the way it loads any TDL. No program, no service, no open port, no administrator rights. Delete the line in F1 › TDLs & Add-Ons and it is gone.
Does it change entries already in my Tally?
Never. It only creates the Receipt and Payment vouchers you approved, and the ledgers you asked for. Every voucher it creates carries a reference starting LP/ in its Reference field, so you can always find them in Tally's Day Book.
Does Tally have to be open?
Only for posting. Uploading, checking, approving and the reports work at any hour from any browser. Approved lines wait as "on its way to Tally" until Tally is open on the PC with the add-on and your company loaded; then they go within 15 seconds.
Which banks?
Any bank. The reader looks for the columns (date, narration, withdrawal, deposit, balance), not for a bank name, in a PDF with text, an Excel file or a CSV; proven on HDFC, ICICI, SBI and Kotak. A layout it cannot map goes once to an AI reader, and that reading counts only when every running balance in it adds up - otherwise the page says the file could not be read and tells us. A clear scan can be read that way too; a blurred photo usually cannot, so download from net banking where you can.
My statement is password-protected.
Upload it as it is. The page asks for the password once and keeps it for that company, so the next statement from the same bank opens by itself.
Is every line really in the report?
Yes. Receipts on one side, payments on the other, nothing skipped, with the opening and closing balance of the day. The report can be downloaded as Excel, opened as a page to print or save as PDF, or shared as text on WhatsApp.
How does the free trial work?
Seven days from the day you switch on a company, tied to your Tally licence (one trial per serial number). In the trial one statement day opens per calendar day: upload, check, approve and post that day, and the next one opens tomorrow. Whatever you post stays in Tally when the trial ends.
What does it cost?
A yearly price by the number of Tally companies you switch on, plus GST: see Plans. Every bank account of those companies is included; single-user and multi-user Tally cost the same. Set-up is free: you do it yourself with the steps above, and we help on WhatsApp if you get stuck.
Several companies, several bank accounts?
Switch on each company from the "Tally connected" screen; the same add-on serves all of them. One bank ledger per company today; a second bank account for the same company is on its way.
Which Tally?
A licensed TallyPrime (single or multi-user). Educational mode is refused, because Tally in that mode accepts entries only on the 1st, 2nd and 31st. Tally.ERP 9 is not tested yet. In a multi-user office, load the add-on on the PC that usually keeps Tally open, or on the server.
Tally says "TDL error" when it loads the file.
The file was renamed, edited or saved as .txt. Download it again from the dashboard and point Tally at the new file.
The dashboard keeps saying "Looking for your Tally".
Check: Tally is open with your company open; in F1 › TDLs & Add-Ons the LedgerPost file is listed and "Load TDLs on startup" is Yes (saved with Ctrl+A); that PC has internet. Still stuck after a minute: message us and we connect it with you over screen share.
Who can see my data?
The logins of your company, and our team when you ask for help. No one else; nothing is sold or shared; no advertising. The privacy policy says exactly what is kept and where, and how to have it deleted.
Can I undo a posting?
Not from LedgerPost yet. The vouchers are ordinary Tally vouchers: find them by their LP/ reference in the Day Book and delete or alter them in Tally as you would any entry. Post to Tally only after you have checked the day.
